Welcome to my blog where I test, evaluate, and share recipes. I love trying new recipes, creating recipes, and improving on the classics. I also post about where I have gone to find quality products and the freshest ingredients in the Food Travels tab. If you have pets, you might enjoy making a homemade treat from the Dog and Parrot recipe tabs. Please feel free to comment or make suggestions on this blog. If you have any recipes that you would like me to test or improve (make it healthier, substitutions, put a twist on it, etc.), please email me at breagha70@gmail.com or click on the "Recipe Suggestions" tab above.

Gary's Meat Market located at 1411 Chipperfield Drive in Stroudsburg, PA:

 August 1, 2012

A butcher shop should be a place that gives you superior quality that supersedes any grocery store butcher.  As soon as you walk through the doors of a quality butcher you should see a clean environment and not smell any odors.  Employees should be wearing those little latex gloves and greet you with a smile.  The dry goods shelves should be filled with all sorts of interesting products.  The meat and poultry glass display should shine and draw you in.   These are all great qualities of a great butcher shop...and Gary's doesn't disappoint.

I have had the pleasure of shopping at Gary's now three times.  I have been very satisfied with everything that I have purchased from the enormous boneless, skinless chicken breasts to the juicy London Broil.  They have accommodated all of my certain cuts and packaging requests, graciously and pleasantly.

In addition to their meats and poultry, which is outstanding and the highest quality, they also have deli meats, a frozen food section (perogies, raviolis, etc.), farm fresh eggs, breads, pies, and all sorts of little treasures.  They also sell Stoltzfus hams, bone-in or boneless.

Gary's prices are the best I've seen, even better than the big grocery stores; not to mention the better quality you're getting.  You can taste the quality and that's more important than anything else.

So to sum it up:  Gary's has superior quality, great selection, good pricing, a friendly and accommodating staff.  If you're in the Stroudsburg area, give Gary's a try.  You won't be sorry you did.

Fresh Produce & Grass Fed Meats Found at Farmer's Market in Blakeslee, PA

Over the weekend, my husband and I traveled to a farmer's market operated by a Mennonite community.  These farmer's markets are all over Pennsylvania and provide the freshest produce and meats for a reasonable price.  I have had the pleasure of patronizing these wonderful roadside establishments since I moved to the area.  I am so pleased with the grass fed meats and home grown produce, and the fresh quality.  You can tell these people take pride in what they do and they do it very well.

This particular market is open on Fridays and Saturdays and is located on Route 115 in Blakeslee, PA just south of I-80.  They offer grass fed meats and poultry, fresh produce, baked goods, their own flours, grains, honey, fresh eggs, take home bbq chicken, homemade ice cream, some hand crafted items, and much more.
